Co-Chairs' Welcome
Art with Heart celebrates two essential human qualities: the recognition of beauty and the demonstration of compassion. In a sense we celebrate our own humanity when we join together for the benefit of Casey House.
This year beauty takes many forms, such as the evocation of campfires, of sticky marshmallows and crackling fl ames provided by the hot Quebec collective BGL for this year's June Callwood Artist's Multiple. Noted artist Attila Richard Lukacs has contributed a typically stunning image for this year's Limited Edition series. Works by Lukacs can be found in leading collections around the world, and the original painting will also be offered during the auction.
It is compassion that drives the work of the many volunteers who make an essential contribution to this event and to Casey House throughout the year. So it is especially fitting that it was a team of volunteers who created the quilt for tonight's auction entitled “The Heart of Casey House,” a lovingly hand-stitched tribute to two decades of compassionate care at Casey House.
Wil Kucey and Bill Clarke led the Curatorial Committee and assembled this year's superb collection. The Steering Committee invested thousands of hours to produce the auction, the culmination of a year of effort. We thank them, together with the volunteers and docents who contribute so much to the success of the event.
We would also like to recognize and thank TD Waterhouse, presenting sponsor for Art with Heart 2008.
This entire team has come together for Art with Heart to benefit Casey House. We thank them for their efforts and commitment and wish everyone very, very happy bidding.
