This image comes from Cohen’s Camouflage series, where seemingly familiar and usually lacklustre interior spaces – “found” places – are repositioned as new scenes that have us questioning the boundary between reality and artifice. These environments present as everyday backdrops to our various activities, yet simultaneously seem meticulously constructed. While void of actual people, these images are filled with the suggestion of human presence and draw attention to the idiosyncrasies of the public and private spaces we inhabit daily. In these abandoned rooms we might find humour, sadness or an eerily ominous sense of what might lie beneath.
