A study on paper transposed into three-dimensional object, Pas de deux II (2015) is an enameled copper sheet oxidized in a kiln. Endowing it with verdigris glints and registering the passing of time on the blank material, this process is representative of Marie-Michelle Deschamp’s practice. Indeed, the idea of transferral presents itself as a central element to the artist’s work, which demonstrates a particular affinity for the transformation of language and materials, blurring codes and allowing for figurative, abstract and literary interpretations.
