Lot 11

Fire Line is a series of charcoal portraits examining those dedicating their lives to fighting fires within the vast boreal forests of northern Ontario. An often dangerous and unseen occupation, the renderings recognize the labour and sacrifice of those keeping the forests, wildlife, and residents from disaster. The subjects are no longer concealed within the trees but revealed to be the faces of our front line, the rangers of our security. Fire Line is an extension of Jennifer Globush’s ongoing visual documentation of life in the North, recognizing the hard labor it demands, honoring those that make the wild North unique.
