This image is part of an ongoing series that explores ideas of psychological landscape and the role of light and colour in activating one’s perception of reality and self. Questions of space and the body are recurring themes throughout Mara Gajic’s practice as she explores visibility and performance. Gajic is interested in photography’s ability to construct space and the realm of the unseen that it paradoxically introduces as it probes our imagination, discovering things hidden in plain sight. By disrupting the viewers expectations within and outside of the frame, she aims to reconstruct a reality marked by uncertainty.
