Morning Light Through the Bedroom Door is part of a series of paintings from Michael Pszczonak’s exhibition ‘Marking Time’, based on observations and events from everyday life. Some of the paintings are based on photographs from the past that the artist felt might make good paintings, while others were based on photographs of observations that he thought were interesting in the moment. By offering a glimpse into this particular point in Pszczonak’s life, he sees these paintings as a way of taking stock of the commonplace, a search for the exceptional in the mundane and the universal in the specific.
