Casual backdrops, these places populate the margins, reaching from the corners, underfoot. Enduring presences, they observe the subtle erosion and adjustment that surround their occupancy. Frequent use whittles them into a normalcy that is at once mundane, and noteworthy. Brief lulls open these places to characterization, as they squat and lean, skirting notice. The ephemera of occupation collects here, each wholly banal interaction wearing into them an imprint of an individual quotidian. They respond in muted kind, collecting, and in turn exhibiting the fluid records of their sporadic occupancy – reflecting back at us a steadfast reminder of ourselves.
