Renée Van Halm is a Vancouver-based artist whose work explores how space, architecture, and visual culture shape contemporary experience. Working across painting, drawing, and ceramics, she draws inspiration from sources ranging from fashion and design magazines to Bauhaus textiles, transforming found imagery through processes of manipulation and juxtaposition. Her practice examines the politics of space—how environments influence the body, identity, and our understanding of public and private life.

Born in the Netherlands and raised in Canada, Van Halm studied at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design) and holds an MFA from Concordia University. A founding member of Mercer Union in Toronto, she has exhibited extensively in Canada and internationally. Her work is held in major public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada.
